SEC Storage - 2015 in Review - The Best of Warehouse Racking
It's been quite a year at SEC Storage. 2015 saw us win multiple, industry leading awards; build numerous guides for storage, accessories and products, and visit a number of exciting projects of all scales and sizes to give our customers, suppliers and contacts the best insight into what we do and how we do it.
So we thought we'd compile a short collection of some our favourite moments of 2015 from the Storage side of SEC, and although it was a great year, we're certainly hoping for an even better one in 2016. Let's take a look...
An Award Winning Year
In March, 2015, we were honoured to receive the SHD Logistics New Facility Award for our Kuehne + Nagel, Milton Keynes based warehouse project. "Kuehne + Nagel Ltd with SEC Storage discussed a project which brought logistical order and efficiency to the fast-moving and unpredictable environment that is fashion. The entry also demonstrated space charge savings in excess of 40%, and an increase in hanging capacity of 30%", commented the SHD Logistics Awards Judges.
We were also highly commended at the same awards ceremony for our work on our project for Maritime Transport, and received a further nomination for our Madison UK project. All in all, it was a fantastic event that provided us with some wonderful feedback, and industry wide recognition.
WE WON the SHD Logistics New Facility Award and Intralogistics Bronze Award for our Kuehne + Nagel project
We also attended the Intralogistics Awards, where we picked up the Bronze Award for the very same Kuehne + Nagel project. For a little more detail on why it was the pick of the awards, check out our case study: Case Study - Kuehne + Nagel Ltd.
Our Favourite Projects...
We visited a large number of warehouse racking & storage projects last year, and saw some fantastic installations of all shapes and sizes. One of the key highlights was our Designer Contracts, carpet racking project in Kettering (pictured below) that was engineered with a custom solution to allow for the storage of over 7,000 rolls of overall product. You can view our short video case study for more detail on the project here.
We were also graced with some fantastic feedback from a number of jobs we completed throughout the year, which is ultimately a testament to all areas of our team - from sales to installations.
Our wide range of solutions throughout 2015 enabled our customers to greatly optimise operations
Further mentions go out to our Piccadilly Greetings project for a multi-tier solution that was engineered to store over 38,000 boxes of product in a floor space area of just 3,921 sq/ft. The RGE Group project, which saw the installation of a high density, pallet live racking system with the ability to accommodate over 2,100 pallets across 114 lanes, and our project for Volvo Construction Equipment Ltd, where the transition to a new forklift truck system and narrowing of the aisles at the facility allowed for a 28% pallet capacity increase.
Fantastic results all round, and projects in which all our clients were exceptionally pleased. To view more examples of the projects we completed this year, try our case study selections: SEC Storage - Case Studies.
The Development of Our YouTube Channel
2015 saw the development of the SEC Group YouTube channel; an exciting endeavour for the company. We developed a number of storage focused videos including the showcase of the ROS Rack Repair System (a service which we offer), a motion control time-lapse of a pallet racking installation - courtesy of Peter Davey, Visual Solutions, a 10 metre high ride on a scissor lift and more... Some of these videos were even featured in the industry press - in particular SHD Logistics.

It is our primary goal at SEC Storage to deliver content that is both effective and useful for those relevant or who have in interest in the storage industry, and the interactive side of marketing is an aspect that we are most excited about developing in the near future. 2015 was just the beginning..
Warehouse Safety Campaign
As part of our ongoing desire to provide valuable help guides and blogs, and to also contribute to the social #Safetember movement, we took the time to develop a '28' point checklist infographic focusing on safety in the warehouse. The infographic was well received in the industry, with some websites even featuring and directly linking to the piece. You can view the full post and checklist in more detail via our blog: Safety in your Warehouse - 28 Top Tips!

Guides to Help & Inform
Following on from our involvement in the #Safetember campaign, we made a concerted effort to create a number of valuable help guides, providing insight into various aspects of the storage industry including jargon busters, racking specification guides and more. Our guide to pallet racking accessories saw us partner with warehouse safety specialists Good to go Safety, in order to create an effective guide that showcases the various types of accessories you can equip to your pallet racking in order to maximise pick operations and optimise employee safety.
The guide can be viewed in more detail here: SEC Storage Guide to...Pallet Racking Accessories
