Team SEC completes the Transaid: London to Paris cycle challenge
They did it! Congratulations to Gary, Steve and Dean who on Sunday 24th September completed the Transaid London to Paris Cycle Challenge, riding 240 miles in 3 days.
Team SEC took to the road along with 58 other cyclists on Friday 22nd, traversing through the beauty of the English countryside, over the channel via ferry and into Northern France; final destination: Paris. The completion of this epic challenge represents a fantastic achievement for two non-cyclists, and one "mountain biker" that prefers riding down hills, rather than up!
Marketing Manager, Dean Kahl commented: "What an experience! The challenge was a tremendous event, any lows of fatigue, leg pain and soreness were far outweighed by the great fun and feeling of riding into Paris! We have been overwhelmed by the support from sponsors and donations, raising over our original £5,000 target before we departed.
"It was such an accomplishment by all 3 riders and are all very proud for completing the full distance with no mechanicals or injuries. We couldn't have done it without the camaraderie of the fellow logistics professionals. Thank you!"
We can confirm that their legs are indeed sore, and that they were most grateful for their padded shorts and chamois cream! You can take a look at Dean's event blog, including a video feature that allows you to relive the team's epic journey into France here.
Gary, Steve and Dean would like to pass on their huge thanks to all of the sponsors and those who personally donated, helping them to raise just over £6,200.00 for Transaid so far, and a fantastic 124% of their original target! If you haven't yet and would like to donate you can do so via their JustGiving page: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/sec-storage
