Approach

Due to continuing growth and the need to expand, the company took on additional warehouse space, and called on SEC to provide a storage solution that would allow for effective product loading whilst also maximising capacityTo do this, SEC had to accommodate the need for delivery vans to manoeuvre down two of the main warehouse aisles. The solution: customised aisle widths, widened to allow complete access to both warehouse personnel and delivery vans for the continous loading of products.

In order to protect the racking structures from both incoming vans and the continous operation of fork lift trucks in the facility, guide rails were installed to all racking structures as a preventative guidance and safety measure. Due to one of the key product areas being heavily populated by warehouse workers, SEC installed anti-collapse mesh screens to the back of one side of the very narrow aisle racking structure (VNA), acting as a preventative measure to ensure that accidents are avoided and personnel are protected from falling items when handling palletised loads at all times.

To maximise storage capacity at the facility, SEC installed multiple runs of adjustable pallet racking throughout the new warehouse space: an assortment of both wide aisle and very narrow aisle pallet racking, customised to incorporate varying beam loads. A small run of cantilever racking with bolted arms was also installed to one of the back walls for long form product storage and spacial optimisation to round the project off.
