SEC Storage is pleased to announce the recent completion of our first ever pallet shuttle system, installed at Natures Way Foods Ltd dry stores packaging facility based in Chichester, Sussex. After an extensive warehouse appraisal and the consideration of alternative, high-density systems, it was found that the semi-automated pallet shuttle system would allow the company to achieve maximum storage capacity whilst further minimising operational costs.
In a warehouse shuttle system the handling of goods occurs within the racking channels and is carried out using a remote control. A standard reach forklift truck is used to handle pallets outside of the rack, and is also used to transfer the shuttle system from one channel to another. This removes the need for forklifts to access the channel directly - eliminating the risk of potential driver collisions. Our new product page provides further details on the benefits of the system.
The shuttle structure we built in Natures Way Foods dry goods packaging stores was constructed using AR Racking's propietary shuttle system. AR Racking, part of Grupo Arania are a key supplier of SEC Storage who have worked with us on numerous high-profile projects over the last year. One being the installation of what is believed to be the largest drive-in pallet racking installation of 2016, and this latest project is testament to the continuation of a highly successful and growing partnership between our two companies.
