Design and installation of a secure, two tier shelving system
SEC Storage were invited by Lowdham Leisureworld Ltd, and their architectural partner to propose a solution for a small parts storage system. This was to be installed at Lowdham's recently built warehouse in Lowdham, Nottinghamshire, with the goal of maximising the remaining space in the warehouse.
The resulting solution from SEC Storage was the design and installation of a secure, two tier picking system, which was configured to abut to an existing over-office mezzanine floor. Due to the warehouse being recently constructed, our client’s architectural partner made allowances for the structure of the office to be engineered to support the weight of the storage structure above. A simple yet intelligent solution that makes full use of the available space.
META short span shelving systems with a maximum load capacity per shelf of 30kgs was installed to form the foundation of the tiered structure, with the existing mezzanine having additional META shelving installed atop.
To complete the multi-tier build, chipboard flooring was installed directly onto the structure using self tapping screws; the staircase was then installed and positioned between the existing office and the newly configured multi-tier section.
Hand and knee rails complete with high kickplates were installed to the exposed edges of the tiered structure, and to the exposed edges of the structural office ceiling to finish.
