Approach

SEC was chosen by Lonza to design and implement their new warehouse facility fit out in Slough. The main feature was a multi-tier rack supported structure including mesh walkways, with abutting mezzanine floor for the staircase and main marshalling area.

The multi-tiered storage structure was constructed above the order picking and packing areas allowing it to form the rear walkway.

Due to the warehouse utilising this multi tier system, Lonza required easy movement of goods as traditional pallet gates could not be used. A helter skelter style goods chute was installed for movement of products from the first to ground floor.

The second floor also has multiple access points: in built staircase systems and mezzanine lifts were installed at key access points of the mezzanine in order for goods to be transported to the first floor.

SEC also carried out additional works within Lonza’s warehouse including: modular partitioning installation (for the secure storage of ancillary business supplies), general decorations, wall finishes and painting.

Electrics, lighting and data cable outlets were also implemented and built into the warehouse, and SEC also carried out some minor interior works within Lonza’s offices.
