“The building of this dedicated video production room was quick, clean and efficient. Since completion we have found that it has revolutionized our creative media production, not only for video but also for still photography. We have already produced several videos on a range of products from Hi-Tech electronic to acoustic orchestral instruments. The format of the room is great and we can work without being cramped or cluttered. The results have been a massive leap in quality for us.”

Mezzanine floor installation and photography studio fit-out

KORG UK Ltd, having previously worked with SEC on a warehouse racking project, called upon our Interiors division’s expertise, to design and install a mezzanine floor with a dedicated studio space sitting atop.

After an initial space planning and design process, we installed a single-tier mezzanine floor, compliant with all elements of BRE Digest 437, which also included dedicated strut bracing to prevent lateral movement.

A steel handrail and kickrail system was then installed to all exposed edges of the floor to maximise employee safety along with a standard access staircase.

The office partition systems, built to form the new rooms atop the floor, were constructed from the top of the mezzanine up to the underside of the existing roof. Korg were also looking for the studio space to have some further sound reducing qualities, however, by constructing the partitioning to the full height of the roof, this then negated the need for dedicated sound proofing. The result: a contained studio environment with no interference of sound from the warehouse

White faced, steel exposed ceilings were installed to both the studio space and meeting room areas, suspended from galvanized steel suspension channels, and concealed below the partition line on pre-stressed wire. Wall mounted HVAC systems were also installed to comply with building regulations for fresh air make up.

SEC also carried out all electrical works concerning the structure, including LED sky panel fittings to the first floor rooms, and baton strip lights to the underside of the mezzanine, providing further illumination to the warehouse stock sorting area.
