Phase 1: Science Building fit-out and refurbishment
The second part of this multi-facility project for a prestigious, Higher Education Institute based in Cambridge included the refurbishment of the 7th floor of the campus's Science Building. This floor was fully refurbished by SEC Interiors - working in partnership with VolkerFitzpatrick Ltd - to house the Department of Science and Technologies various teaching faculties.
SEC's works on the 7th floor of this building included the dismantling and strip out of existing materials and walls where specified. New suspended ceilings were then installed and finished with an exposed bulkhead detail, creating an industrialised aesthetic texture. This exposed bulkead showcases the newly installed HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems, which can be seen through the various Ecophon acoustic panels which were installed to finish off the ceiling.
Further works included partitioning installation utilising a glazed system with integrated electric blinds; a new kitchen tea-point for staff members, and the installation of new cubicles and vanity points, including all necessary decoration.
The completion of the Science Building brings Phase 1 of our works to a finish. Phase 2 of the project is set to begin in May 2018 and will last a total of 60 weeks on-site.
Take a look at the rest of the works involved in Phase 1, including the fit-out of a university lecture room, administrative offices, co-working space, and an optometry lab - based across multiple campus facilities in Cambridge city centre.
